Tell us a little about your background – what led you to what you are doing today?

As cliche as it sounds, everything really does happen for a reason. Every decision I have made, whether I thought it was right or wrong at the time, has played a role in where I am today and I am so thankful for that.

Originally from Canada, I moved to Australia and began working in the travel and tourism industry. Through that opportunity I was able to network and expand my knowledge, eventually landing a job in Bali for a tour operator. I was living the dream (or so I thought) but sometimes things don’t always go as planned, and for personal reasons, I ended up parting ways with that company. Initially, I was a bit lost; I didn’t really have much of a plan and wasn’t sure what I would do for work or if I even want to stay in Bali. In the end, leaving that job turned out to be the best possible scenario that could have happened. I felt a sense of freedom that allowed me to focus on my passions, I developed a new sense of happiness and confidence that pushed me to network and make the most of my capabilities.

I began freelance work in the marketing industry which opened a lot of doors for me. I am currently doing anything from social media marketing and content creation, to coordinating and directing photoshoots and more! I’ve always loved to write, so when it comes to blogging, it’s great being able to do something that I really enjoy. I am finally getting to express my creativity in ways I didn’t even know I could.

I have also recently started my own unisex jewellery line, XXVII WILD, which will be launching soon (stay tuned)!
To give you a bit of background, ‘XXVII WILD’ stands for ’27 Wild’. The Roman Numerals ‘XXVII’ represent the number 27, which holds a great significance to our story. A big inspiration for the line was the legendary rockstars and cult following that make up ‘The 27 Club’ (for those who don’t know, the 27 Club is a list of popular musicians, artists, and actors who died at age 27). To top it off, I was born in 1991, making me 27 this year when it all began. It all just made sense and thus began the journey of XXVII WILD.

Inspired by all things rock ‘n’ roll, we are creating curated, handmade pieces for all you wild ones out there.

How would you describe your work and artistic style?

I don’t really consider myself to be very ‘artistic’. I think ‘creative’ is a better word. I’m really into eccentric and ambient things, the kind of things that many of my friends consider “weird” but I like to be a bit different.

Dark colours are a must, I’m not a very colourful person but I am working on that.

Who or what inspires/influences you?

Happiness inspires me. People who are in love with every minute of their lives and are really living life to its fullest. I aspire for that.

Who are you favourite artists/photographers/designers at the moment?

I am really into Purienne at the moment. I love photography with a raw, sexual nature. (IG: @purienne_)

What is your favourite place in the world and why?

I am in love with Morocco; the textiles, the architecture …the kief! I cannot wait to go back!

How does Arthur Apparel resonate with you?

I really value the beliefs and morals that Arthur Apparel stands true to. I am also a big fan of the minimalist aspect that the brand reflects. I think that there is so much beauty in simplicity and sometimes, less really is more. Through Arthur Apparel, I have learned so much more about art, design, minimalism and sustainability.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Crime documentaries and horror movies.

What advice would you give your 16 year old self?

It gets better.

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?

You know, my go to answer would usually be black, more specifically, a black onyx. However, I do have a feminine side that I feel I should embrace more, so for this I am going to do with ‘dusty mauve’.

Pasta, pasta, always pasta. Probably a creamy mushroom sauce and some vino to wash it down.

What is the last song you listened to?

Lusine – Just A Cloud

What would your pet say about you if they could talk?

I’m trying to sleep, leave me alone.
